Looking For A Home

Dad and Page have decided to become a foster family for dogs at The Haven. Abbey is their second foster puppy-Corky was the first and was successfully placed with a family in Mississippi.
Abbey is a lab/whippet mix. Her previous owner kept her in a too small crate for 10 hours a day. Folks, that is entirely too long! Abbey loves to run and needs a family with a large yard where she can play and play and play!

Rudy (Grandpa Sute's devil dog) loves playing with Abbey. She gets along well with other dogs!

Hannah is okay with Abbey...just don't mess with her toys!

If anyone out there thinks that Abbey is just too adorable, get in touch with The Haven. The Haven also has other animals in need of a loving home!

This Public Service Announcement was brought to you by Granpa Sute...he's having trouble adjusting to 3 dogs. He says they are no more trouble than six dogs.

Yesterday Was...

Our trip to Dallas for the Eric Clapton/Steve Winwood concert!

We decided to go to the Dallas Arboretum and toodle around. Great place to go...except in 100 degree weather. Wow! Friggin' hot! I took some great pics though.

Gorgeous, Gorgeous, Gorgeous!

The concert was great ...but what a freak show!!! You had aging hippies, aging hoochies, teenagers, and a few skanks that were stuck in the 80's. Music was good but Clapton never played 'Tears In Heaven', or 'I Shot The Sheriff'. We finally got home about 1 am. I'm feeling it today! Think I might be too old for this shit. Totally worth it.

Ulterior Motive

Here is the real reason I built the greenhouse...not to grow plants...but to give Wasabi a super-sized hammock!

The things I do for my four-legged babies!

Boy, when she plays dead she really commits to the role!

Why?!?

Granpa Sute went to plant something the other day in a spot where an old tree stump had rotted out. When he started digging...he found quite a treasure...snake eggs! UGH! Does he do what normal people do, like cover them back up or destroy them? No! Grandpa Sute is trying to hatch the nasty little things.

Page told Dad she saw the top egg moving. Gross!

Dad sent me an email saying that Page was very excited about the impending birth(s) and was busy picking out baby names...to which Page promptly sent an email telling me that the only names she was picking out was what to call Dad when the damn things hatch!

Honestly, the whole thing just makes my butt pucker!

Where It All Began?

Do you think this might have been the start of my plantfreak life?

Me neither. Between my mom and grandmother Nonie, I think it was just in the blood. I didn't have a chance!

Summer School

Ok, so the freakishly cool spring/early summer is now GONE! Plant sales are dropping and I'll turn my attention to my crafties. At least part of it. Once Mr. Plantfreak finishes the second greenhouse I plan to fill it up with plant babies for next year!

Yesterday was Cody's first day of summer school. He's taking English II to get ahead in his classes. A mature move you say? I thought so too when he agreed to go...until the morning of the first class. Then it was pouting and "You said I had to...this is so gay!" But some of his friends are there-I hope at least one or two is getting ahead rather than catching up. He's a little better now. He's actually speaking to me again. But is that really a good thing?

Since I have to take Cody to school Monday thru Thursday...I'm only working at the paying job 2 days a week. Doesn't seem worth it, huh? Thank goodness for commission! This gives me time to catch up at home:cleaning, plants, veggie garden, playing, that damn nasty garage where Mr. Plantfreak smokes...Has anyone seen Scary Movie 3 where Queen Latifah is the psychic, and she goes to stub out her ciggie but the ashtray is full, so she stuffs it into the drawer. Yeah, it's like that. Gross.

Today I'm headed for the paying job's Ladies Day Out. We are going to tour 4 gardens that the designers have done. I'm especially excited about 2 of them. I'll take pics if I'm able.

Here's a tip for sinus sufferers: Don't take non-drowsy meds when you are going to bed(it was all I had). You'll be flip-flopping all night and bouncing off the walls at 4 in the AM. I figure by the second garden today I should be crashing like a meteorite.

I'm off to get another cup of coffee...like I need it.

Yesterday was D-Day And.....

Grandpa Sute's birthday! Yikes! How could I possibly let him have a birthday without embarassing pictures! Grandpa Sute was born on the actual D-day, so I always got that question right on history tests.

If it wasn't for the ancient tricycle...this could be me or Cody. We all looked just alike as babies.

This shot was for the high school yearbook. Class Clown I think. Now I know where Cody gets it. Apparently Dad was quite the prankster as a teenager, and I heard several stories of his hi-jinks when I lived in Foley.

Dad was on the football team, and I have to add that they were undefeated the four years he played. Coincidence? He doesn't think so.

This is a poicture of Mom and Dad at an 8th grade dance. I used to have that dress...Mom was so petite that I fit into it when I was, oh, about 12.

I think this is in front of the High School.

Anytime we were at Nonie's house she insisted taking a picture in front of the mantel.

Here is Grandpa Sute giving Cody his first tractor ride.

And this is Dad with AJ down at the river cottage.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Sute! We love you!

How's That For Cute

Hello Again

I do have a sunnier attitude folks, but it was dark for awhile. Mr. Plantfreak and I did First Monday again and it was mediocre. Mainly because it was so flippin' hot! This was our last FM until Spring. Unless we come up with something for Fall. Personally, I'm looking for some slow time. We've had a great Spring for the nursery though!

Cody is now officially out of school....so let the bickering begin! Maybe I should look for some out-of-state summer camps. Hmmm...
