Prima Donna Update

I came home saturday from the paying job to find my oldest pouting about his new haircut. When they got to the shop, he could not remember which stylist was the one he likes. This is because of course I should have remembered it for him. Yeah, right! We think it looks fine but prissy boy is UNhappy.

Mr. Plantfreak and I worked all day yesterday cleaning and potting in the nursery. Mr. Plantfreak spent all day saturday rebuilding the greenhouse that Devil Dog destroyed. He's going to start on a small propagation house after First Monday. Boy, we're getting Big Time now. Wish us good luck and big sales for this coming First Monday weekend!

Who are you?!

My son who cringes at the mere mention of a haircut told me the other day he wants to go get it cut! Who are you and what did you do with my son!!! Trust me, this is earth-shaking news. He said he wants to go back to this one hairstylist because she does it right.

He only wears a certain type of blue jeans, certain shoes, and I had to get him a lint brush so he can keep his hoodie jacket (that he wears when it's hot or cold) free of dog hair and assorted stuff.

I think I have a prima donna on my hands.

A Little Pick Me Up

Planet Hartwell, who I swear is my Aussie twin, sent me an award! Awww, I'm blushing.

I've been feeling slightly overwhelmed and this was a little pick me up! Thanks Kjirsten!

I nominate Rock Candy just because she is such a hoot!

I also nominate The Rustic Victorian because I love her vintage style, AND she's an Alabama girl (via Oregon, one of my favorite states).

Last but not least, I nominate Rhondamum, she loves all things parisienne and The Killers...what could be better?!

Off to another day...you know I'm only working at the paying job three days a week now, but it seems like I'm busier than ever! I'm due for some serious down time.

Spit It Out

My friend Mica was putting her 2 1/2 year old to bed the other night but he had something to tell her. He couldn't think of the word he wanted to use so the conversation became "And...um, and...um...and", so Mica said "Ashton, just spit it out". He looked quizzically at her for a moment...and spit at her. Hey, the kid follows orders.

Me and Mr. C

I went to work for Mr. C yesterday and work was an understatement! I planted close to 200 4" inch plants and mulched the huge beds. It doesn't sound like much, but trust me... it is. When I got home whatever appendages weren't cramping up felt like wet noodles. I crawled in the hot tub, then crawled in the bed! At 4:30!! Do you know how hard it is to dial a phone with noodle fingers? I called Mr. Plantfreak and told him if he wanted eat....he should bring it home. I was just pitiful.

Mr. C is about 80-something and most of the time he piddled around while I worked...he even put on some Ella Fitzgerald. It was pretty nice to have music to listen to while I worked. When it came time to mulch he insisted on carrying the bags out for me and helping. You know how sometimes people try to help but they just get in the way? That's all I'm going to say about that. By the time we finished mulching I wasn't sure who was going to pass out first! I hope he was ok last night. I must say though the garden is shaping up nicely...and for a weekend house he is going to be overflowing in veggies, herbs, and flowers!

Same Old Stuff

Not much going on here, just the same old, same old. We had a guy come out to the paying job and present a butterfly seminar on Saturday. It was crazy with people, but they were mostly looky-loos. I have been worthless the last two days, so now I have to get it in gear! Today I work in the greenhouse, and tomorrow I work for Mr. C. He has a ranch out here and needs someone to take care of his veggie garden~ since it's his weekend place (he has several). I'm excited but I have a lot to plant. I just might be worthless again.

If You Have To Ask...

I had a customer come in ask if the black part is the part that goes in the ground.

It threw me off so bad I stuttered for an hour. If you have to ask that question...I don't think you should be gardening.

Granny Plantfreak

Mr. Plantfreak is just a couple of years(9) older than me and he has two grown girls, and three of the most beautiful grandchildren on the face of the earth. They have been in Italy for the last three years (military) but now they are back in the states. Europe must be crying. Joselyn-not sure what she is doing .
What a doll!
This is Gage- or as I like to refer to him...Mini Mark! My grandmother met Gage when he was just a tiny baby and the first thing she said was that he was a carbon copy of Mark. I didn't believe her then but I certainly do now.

Here is a pic of all three kids. Mr. Plantfreak wanted to know who the twins were with Gage. Ummm....we are looking at pics of YOUR grandkids. Sometimes all you can do is shake your head.
Here is a shot of the baby, Gianna. Unbearably cute!!! She has Mr. Plantfreak's eyes. I don't know about his smile since he is a grumpy old grizzly. Gaga bought him a coffee cup with Grumpy on it when she came out. We always said that the grandkids should call him that instead of grandpa. It fits.

Nursery Update

First Monday was a success, not a raging success mind you, but successful nevertheless. We didn't sell out like I wanted but we learned what to do next time, we met some of the other vendors...say what you want about Flea Market people but they are the nicest people around. Our trailer got stuck in mud and about 10 people ran over to help us get it out. They didn't have to but they did anyway.

Gray's Nursery made another order from us, Yay! I also found out about another nursery named ...Sage Garden Nursery! Is that not hilarious?!? Her last name is Sage, don't know if she is any relation to the Mobile Sages though. I emailed an availability and I really hope she wants Louisiana Phlox because I still have a buttload left.

Spring Excitement!

Spring has sprung and that means some really busy days for the Garden Sage!! We had one of our customers call and make an order the other day, and today is First Monday! Mr. Plantfreak is loaded down with plants and heading out shortly. I had a customer at the paying job yesterday tell me that FM was just covered up with people! YAY!!! I told Mr. Plantfreak that he would be sold out by noon. Tomorrow, I go with him...if we have any plants left.

Back In Texas

I came back from AL yesterday. The trip was harder than I thought...it was the first time I had been back since Mom's funeral. The closer I got, the faster the tears fell. Add some family drama and the visit became a roller coaster of emotion.

Positive parts of the trip...
I bought a cargo trailer on the way down. Most women want jewelry, but not me! I like non-title vehicles.

Saw Dad and Page and we went to our collective favorite restaurant, Vinnie's. BTW, if you are ever in Daphne, AL, you have to go to Vinnie's! And if you go on Friday night...just walk in and yell "Hey Sute (Sootee)!", and Grandpa Sute will most definitely smile and wave.

I had lunch with my ABFF (that's Alabama Best Friend Forever) , Vicki. Funny, we picked up right where we left off as if I still lived in Foley.

Bought some seafood!!!! I miss fresh seafood. Grandpa Sute told me how to cook oysters on the grill. Get an aluminum muffin tin and plop butter, garlic, parmesan, etc. in with an oyster and put it on the grill. When the oysters begin to curl, remove and eat. It was nirvana! We threw in a dash of tabasco just for giggles. Now I wish I had bought more oysters.

Brought back some plants from Grandpa Sute's. He sprouted some Loquat trees from seed and sent them back for me to sell.

I got my baby back! AJ is back at home and up to his same old tricks. He and Cody have actually, dare I say it, (whispering) gotten along. I hope that doesn't jinx it!

Negative parts of the trip...well, I'm not dwelling on that. I'm trying to cut down on negative energies (and people). It's bad for your health.
