Pins And Needles

It's springtime and sales are picking up! I've sold all my available sedums and it seems like I'm taking in perennials to sell every other day. Of course we are spending the money we make as fast as we can on more plants and supplies. We just ordered $1000 worth of soil so I can pot up the 10,000 cuttings I rooted and bought. The soil hits the property thursday and life as we know it will change forever. I will be working after my paying job until dark every night. I'm excited and a little freaked out.
The big expenses are done for a little while and I'm hoping that the sales for the next month or so will at least put gas in my car. We are spending $400 a month in gas. What the hell!?! I can remember freaking out when gas hit $1/gallon. If only I had known how great that was...

Jade

Jade is the one animal that my husband brought home. He found her alongside the road when he used to work for the city of Foley. She was terrified, starved, and full of fleas and bugs. Now, Jade is Queen of the yard. We think she might be part Lab and part Chow. She is a beautiful dog...we used to think she was the bad one until the truly evil one arrived.
Jade is definitely weird though, this is how she sleeps-against a wall with all four legs in the air. Cody says that she doesn't listen to us because she is too busy listening to the music in her head. I'm inclined to agree. I wonder what song it is...Who Let The Dogs Out?

Super Sleuthing

Today I went out to water the plants and found this...

Who could have done such a horrible thing! Looking around I found even more carnage!!!

I need to catch this perpetrator!!! I followed the trail of destruction and....

wait for it....

Case Solved. Damn Dog.

My New Favorite Plant

As we all know, I started my little nursery because the designers at my (paying) job liked to use certain plants and couldn't find them. First rule in every entrepeneur book is find a need and fill it. At any rate, one of the plants the designer's like (mainly Chantelle) is Louisiana Phlox.
I just love that sea of color! It likes the hot sun (we have plenty), and it stays under a foot tall. Makes a great groundcover for large areas. Did I mention the great color?
Yep. My new favorite plant. I hope I sell a lot, since I just bought 800 liners the other day.

Bad Dog!

What was I thinking when I brought a puppy home? It's not that there's another dog in the house, it's the fact that she is so bad!!!
She tears up everything and unlike Jade, she is still leaving presents of the icky kind everywhere. Last night she jumped in my lap and smelled so nasty!! I thought she found something dead to roll in...I was right! She brought a dead mole in my living room and just had a ball!! EWWWWW!!!!!!

Tipper would have preferred that I not bring the little demon home either. She terrorizes him constantly. And AJ named her Angel...at least he has mastered the art of irony. Bad dog!! Bad, bad dog!

Snow Day

If anyone has been watching Weather Channel, they know the snow was expected to smack East Texas. Well, it did snow! I did call in to work! I did keep Cody home from school! I did fall dead asleep for a good 4 hours. I woke up and the sun was shining, birds were singing, and it looked like a beautiful Spring day. No snow in sight. Go figure.

Visitors of the Family Kind

I know I have been slacking on my posts. A lot. But I had an excuse this weekend. My brother Bryant and his wife Sylwia (and the kids) came to visit. They are actually considering moving out this way and came to survey the land. I think Sylwia would have stayed and never gone back after a weekend of indulging in garage sales, flea markets, and playing in the dirt.

I think the kids liked it too. Matthew, AKA "Fat Boy", was all over the yard. He ran as fast as those fat little legs would carry him. Jacob had a ball hanging out with the teenagers and Katie worked in the greenhouse too. I think there is a Jr. Greenthumb in her!

First Monday, which is a huge flea market in our area that is held during the first monday of every month was a little slow due to the rainy weather but that did not stop Sylwia. I finally quit paying for my own things and let her do all the talking. She is the best haggler-I guess it's her european upbringing but she can talk people down to a ridiculous pittance.

They left this morning and I have to say the place is much quieter-between their kids and my menagerie it was constant chaos...but it was a ton of fun!
